Seven residents living in the North Devon town of Northam are celebrating after their postcode landed the Millionaire Street jackpot in the People’s Postcode Lottery, earning each winner more than £140,000.
The lucky group, all living within the postcode EX39 1EZ, are each taking home £142,857 after their street was revealed as the winning location in the weekly £1 million draw held on Saturday, 14 March. The winners have chosen to keep their identities private.
Matt Johnson, an ambassador for the lottery, congratulated the neighbours on their windfall. He described the coastal area as a beautiful place and said it was especially nice to see friends and neighbours enjoying such a memorable moment together.
The big win will also have a positive impact beyond the street itself. Local charities are set to benefit from additional funding generated through the lottery’s charitable programmes.
One of the beneficiaries is the Northam Care Trust, which has received £100,000 to support its plans to build a hydrotherapy pool for people with disabilities and additional needs.
Chief executive Jo Howell said the grant will help bring the organisation much closer to achieving its goal of creating a facility that will benefit both those they support and the wider community. She described the funding as a major step toward delivering a resource that could make a real difference to people’s lives.
The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £12.50 per month to enter, with participants playing using their home postcode. Players are automatically included in multiple draws, including the weekly Millionaire Street prize, where one postcode shares a £1 million jackpot.
Funds raised through the lottery also support several environmental and charitable organisations through the Postcode Planet Trust, including groups such as the Blue Marine Foundation, Cool Earth, and The Wildlife Trusts.
