Breaking News

The UK Gambling Commission has announced a series of updates to its Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), set to roll out across 2026.

These changes will introduce new obligations for operators in areas such as reporting, consumer protection, dispute resolution, and gaming machine compliance.

From 19 March 2026, operators must comply with revised rules around key event reporting. The threshold for reporting changes related to operator ownership or relevant individuals will increase from 3% to 5%.

In addition, the definition of “relevant persons” will be expanded to include organisations without share capital (excluding society lottery licensees).

Operators will also be required to disclose all relevant loans, even if they are not formally documented.

These updates will be reflected in the Commission’s Licensing, Compliance and Enforcement Policy Statement.

From 6 April 2026, references to the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 will be replaced by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

This change will impact licence conditions related to fairness, transparency, and marketing practices, bringing gambling regulation in line with the UK’s updated consumer protection framework.

Further updates to complaints and dispute procedures are expected later in the spring.

These will come into force once the Department for Business and Trade activates provisions within the DMCC Act that remove the current Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Regulations.

As part of this shift, the Commission will revise its accreditation references and remove outdated mentions of approved ADR provider lists.

From 29 July 2026, a new licence condition will require land-based (non-remote) operators to remove any gaming machines deemed non-compliant once they receive written notice from the Commission.

This measure follows a consultation completed earlier in 2026.
